ABC Books

This was a school time project we did to review our ABC's.  We worked on a few letters each day.  I have some alphabet stamps we used to stamp a letter on each page.  Then the kids came up with something that started with that letter.  They drew a picture of it and also wrote out the word.  (For my 3 year old, I wrote the word for her).

After we finished all of our pages, I punched a whole in them and put a ring around them to make them into little books.  Then my kids read them to each other (and have read them several times since, they took great pride in their books that they made!)

Preschool Activity- Lego Sorting

Great activity to practice fine motor skills, colors and numbers!
I gave each of my kids a stack of legos.  They had to separate them and sort them by colors.

After all of the legos were sorted by colors, I had them count how many legos there were of each color.  Then they wrote it down on a piece of paper (with a matching color of marker).

Home Preschool Activities- ABC's

I recently dug out these old ABC magnets and had my kids put them in the correct order on the fridge.  Lately we've been starting school time with some kind of activity involving these letters.

One of their favorites is when a letter will be missing and the kids have to go search around the house for the missing letter which is placed on something that starts with that letter.

Another favorite is when some of the letters are mixed up and the kids will have to put the letters back in the right order.

This has been a fun way to review our letters and also the order of the alphabet.

ABC Bingo for Preschoolers

Here is a fun, simple way for preschoolers to practice their letters- ABC Bingo. Below are 4 bingo cards with the ABC's.  I would recommend printing them on card stock and putting them in sheet protectors to keep them clean and reusable. The last page has all of the letters of the alphabet that you can cut out.  We usually use cheerios or m&m's for our markers.  You could easily use scraps of paper as well.

Valentine's Day Activities for Preschoolers

We were busy this week with lots of fun Valentine's Day projects.  Here are a couple of things that we made.

The 1st picture is pretty self-explanatory on how we made it.  All you need is paper, glue, scissors, and yarn.  For the project in the 2nd picture, I traced a heart and then the kids used tissue paper (cut into squares) to glue in their hearts.  Both projects turned out very cute and were easy and festive to get us ready for Valentine's Day.

Home Preschool Activities- Ad Search

I finally found some use for our weekly ads!  For my 2 year old, I have her search for colors.  I hand her a green marker and she finds something in the ad that is green and then circles it.  For my 5 year old, I have him search for numbers or alphabet letters, which he also circles as he finds them.
